Shisha

Well, Kaden and I are sitting in the dark. It isn’t night, so we have outside light, but the living room and kitchen are still pretty dark without lights on. Why not just turn on a light??? We have no power. I have no idea why, but there was a note taped to the door coming into our apartments that today between 8 and 10, they would have our power off. Here it is, about 8:45 and it is already getting pretty hot in here.

It didn’t occur to me that no power would not only take away our light sources, but also my microwave (Kaden will just have to drink his bottles cold… and eat jarred baby food because all of ours is frozen [or supposed to be, we’ll see when we get power back on]), my coffee maker (!!!), the Air Conditioning, and of course, the internet and TV. (Internet goes away because the router needs a power source… I am sure there is still plenty of “DSL” coming out of the phone line…)

So, here we sit. Kaden doesn’t seem to mind. I just changed him into a tank top and shorts and he’s still just playing with his dimly-lit toys. I, on the other hand, desperately want my morning coffee and some cool air. Heh. What a whiner, huh? I can see the worker guys next door working on the building that sweat away in daily temperatures of near 110, and here I am complaining about 85 degree weather (and rising!!! Haha) inside.

So last night when Stu got home we had wraps and salad for dinner (which, if I do say so myself, was pretty darn good!), then we took a walk down to the Kalispera Café and tried a new chocolate frothy-type drink. Next time we’ll not fix what isn’t broken and just get our caramel Heaven drinks. They are way better.

But then we went down to the shisha store and bought a water pipe and some shisha (strawberry, cherry, and lemon flavors). Then we went back to our roof with Josh to smoke it and enjoy the cool (ha!) evening breeze. It was nice.

Kaden is being a very good boy. Right now he is eating the leg to his highchair. Weird baby.

This is the pipe. It is sort of a purple solor with pretty flower-like designs on the side.

The plant on the roof finally bloomed!

Stu's turn.

My turn.

  1. That is so cool. I really want a hookah. We went to the main st auction on Saturday and they had a bunch of them. One looked alot like yours, actually! Lol. I had no idea it got that hot over there. Yuck. Hope you don't have to have many days without power. At least you lived in Arizona and are used to hot weather somewhat!
    Love you guys,
    Becky

  3. I was thinking about that poster yesterday! Apparently Sherriff Joe (in AZ... who signed the poster for those who don't know) is getting some crap for his way of handling illegals. I miss the poster... lol. :(
