It's a sad, sad day...

In a move to "protect" UAE citizens, the government has decided to ban the import of all pork products and derivatives... even though the World Heath Organization assured them that you cannot contract the virus from consumption of pork products. Looks like I have to change my menu for next week (we were going to have Breakfast Burritos one day... with sausage). Stupid pork haters.

  1. Wow. I clicked on the link expecting a pork story. That's just insane - absolutely terrible.

As for the pork though, everybody here (aka the media) is going crazy... words like "pandemic," etc. They're going to keep on and everyone will go get the flu shots, and they'll run out of the flu vaccine. Just like we ran out of gas last year when the media announced a "national shortage." INSANE. Let's all panic!!

  2. Hey Sarah. I actually did post the wrong link. (scatterbrain!) So I fixed it. (I wouldn't have intentionally posted the other one on this blog... but it is available on my Facebook page if you want to see it again)

  3. Don't know if you guys are Republicans or not, but here is Congressman Ron Paul's take on this swine flu thing:

I respect this man. A lot!

  4. Thanks for sharing that link Abid. That man said things in a very clear, thoughtful way. It's a refreshing change from the hysteria we've seen throughout the world.

  5. Finally, someone speaks with some sense. That's the first person in politics/media that hasn't been freaking out about the "global pandemic." You know, they just said this morning that they're discovering that the swine flu is looking more and more just like the normal flu???? Ugh, so silly.

  6. Just out of curiosity, since people in the UAE get swine flu from pork products do you still get chicken pox from chickens? It's hard to believe that as far as some societies have come they still buy into these ideas, even with an western education.

32,000 people died from the regular flu last flu season. I don't think we've even hit 200 with this one yet. I'm at a loss as to all the hubub. I'm thinking this may be a misdirection for some other reason we unaware of at this point and time. JMHO.
